U-20 World Cup: Three things Nigeria must not do Vs South Korea

With few hours to the Nigeria Vs South Korea 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup quater-final match, here are three things the Flying Eagles must not do vs the Asian side.

UNDERRATE SOUTH KOREA AND GET PUNISHED

Keen followers of football in Nigeria will agree with me that for every-time a Nigerian team achieves a stunning result, the next game often-times offers subdued performances because of complacency.

This is the number one battle Ladan Bosso and his boys must win.

Thanks to the Coach who has in his interviews downplayed that win vs Argentina. The message to the boys should be, go out there like a team that has a lot to prove.

That way, South Korea will have a tough task finding a way through the Nigeria backline and containing a powerful front-line that has produced goals in all but one game.

Underrating South Korea will be a risk. Don’t forget, there finished in second place at the last u-20 World Cup.

ALLOWING LEE-SEUG-WON SPACE TO OPERATE

A look at South Korea’s goals at the FIFA U-20 World Cup shows a certain Lee-Seun-Won involved in the build-up to significant number of it.

The Flying Eagles must be alert to close him down else he finds space to thread a defence splitting pass.

Against another African side Gambia in the group stage Lee-Seung-Won was cage.

South Korea were unable to score because the jersey number 8 could not find space to operate. Unlike in their wins over France and Ecuador where he ran the show.

So, the Flying Eagles must have an eye on him. Good enough, it is a task Daga Daniel can do with distinction.

AVOID CONCEDDING THE FIRST GOAL

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles must do well to guard against conceding the first goal in the quater-final clash vs South Korea.

In this match, the first goal will be crucial to the outcome. On the strength of their performances from winning positions, I can say that South Korea will be a dangerous opponent to attempt a fightback against. Ask France and Ecuador.
