Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were on the scoresheet as Inter Milan won the Milan derby UCL Semi-final 1st-leg clash vs AC Milan on Wednesday night.

Both goals came in the opening minutes of the game at the San Siro. For the first, Bosnia forward Edin Dzeko held off Davide Calabria to volley a left-footed strike into net in the 8th minute of play.

Three minutes later it was two-up for Inter following fantastic linkup play. Nicolo Barella laced the ball out wide to Federico Dimarco who drove down the wing before cutting the ball back to Lautaro Martinez who jumps over it for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Mkhitaryan touches the ball into the box then smashes it past Mike Maignan to double Inter’s lead at the San Siro.

VAR then came to the rescue for AC Milan. A penalty was awarded to Inter Milan in the 30th minute after the referee adjudged Lautauro Martinez was brought down by Kjaer.

After A VAR review, the decision was upturned .

A 0-2 lead at the break further demonstrated Inter Milan`s dominance of their most recent meetings.

Tomali did hit the crossbar in the second half of the UEFA Champions League semi-final clash but it was De Bruyne.

There was no goal in the second half  and so it finished AC Milan 0-2 Inter Milan. Pioli`s men will have to dig out a big performance when the second leg happens next week.

Two clubs with huge history in this competition, Inter last won the trophy in 2010 under Jose Mourinho while Milan dominated the Champions League at the start of the millennium and in the 90`s.

The fourth and fifth in Serie A understand the importance of winning the match. Inter Milan will cheer in the first-leg advantage.
