Umar Sadiq Frustrated as Future Remains Unclear
Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq has shown signs of frustration as his future remains uncertain. Both Real Sociedad and Valencia seem to have no plans for him ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The 28-year-old is still under contract with Real Sociedad until 2028. However, the Spanish club no longer wants to keep him, and a permanent move away looks likely.
Sadiq spent the second half of last season on loan at Valencia. He scored five goals in 16 matches, helping the team avoid relegation and finish just outside the top ten. His goal for Valencia even won the club’s Goal of the Season award.
Despite his good form, Valencia decided not to activate the €10 million buy option in his loan deal. This has brought his time at the club to an end.
At the moment, no firm offers have come in for Sadiq. He remains a Real Sociedad player, but it is clear the club sees no future for him in their plans.
Reports from Turkey suggest that Beşiktaş are watching his situation and may consider a loan move. But talks are still at an early stage.
Since joining Real Sociedad from Almería for €20 million in 2022, Sadiq has struggled to settle. A serious knee injury early in his first season slowed his progress, and he has since failed to fit into the team’s style of play.
Adding to the uncertainty, Sadiq posted a cryptic message on Instagram that said:
“You don’t love me or I don’t love you. What’s the answer? To keep it best in secret then say we don’t love each other.”
Many fans see this as a hint that he is preparing to leave or is unhappy with how things have turned out.
With the summer transfer window still open, there is time for a solution, but for now, Sadiq’s next move remains a mystery. The striker, who has one goal in 12 appearances for Nigeria, is currently valued at around €5 million.
