Victor Boniface outshines Osimhen in recent report

Nigerian forwards Victor Boniface and Victor Osimhen are among the most in-form strikers in Europe at the moment. Now a recent ranking sees the Bayer Leverkusen man outshine his Napoli compatriot.

Victor Boniface’s exceptional performance for Bayer Leverkusen has seen him surpass compatriot Victor Osimhen in transfer market value, according to a CIES Football Observatory report.

The 23-year-old Nigerian striker played a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s historic Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double, scoring 21 goals and providing nine assists across all competitions. This remarkable form has boosted his transfer value to €86.5 million, making him the 49th most valuable player in world football.

Despite another prolific season for Napoli, Victor Osimhen’s transfer value is slightly lower at €85.6 million, placing him 51st globally and fourth in Africa. Chelsea’s Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson leads the African rankings with a value of €99.3 million, followed by Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus at €89.6 million.

Despite his rising market value, Boniface has struggled to make a significant impact under new Super Eagles coach Finidi George. He played just 45 minutes as a second-half substitute in Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers, which included a draw and a defeat against South Africa and Benin Republic, respectively.

The CIES model, which bases its valuations on over 5,500 transfer fees, considers factors such as age, contract length, game time, performance, and the economic strength of the clubs involved. Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham tops the global rankings with a value of €280 million after a stellar first season in Spain.

With the transfer window approaching, Boniface’s soaring value could trigger a fierce scramble for his signature this summer, highlighting his growing reputation and potential impact in top-tier football.
