Victor Osimhen scored his 14th league goal of the season for Napoli in their 3-0 hammering of Genoa in their Matchday 37 clash in Serie A.
The 23-year-old striker opened the scoring for the Partenopei with a brilliant header following an outswinging cross from Giovanni Di Lorenzo in the 32nd minute of the encounter.
Napoli added further goals in the second half through a Lorenzo Insigne penalty and another goal from midfielder Stanislav Lobotka, sealing an easy win at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. They have also sealed a third-place finish in Serie A, booking a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Osimhen has now scored 14 league goals for the first time since moving to Europe’s top five leagues, beating the record of 13 goals he set while he played for Lille in 2019-20. The lanky striker has scored seven goals with his feet and seven headed goals for Napoli in Serie A this season in only 23 starts. He is the highest-scoring African in Serie A this season.
Osimhen has scored 18 goals and contributed two assists in all competitions for Napoli this season and is developing nicely at the club. The Super Eagles striker had been touted by many for a summer move to the English Premier League but has come out to refute the claims.
