Villarreal and Bologna target Spanish born Nigerian striker Kevin Carlos Omoruyi
Spanish born Nigerian striker Kevin Carlos Omoruyi is attracting serious interest from Villarreal and Bologna as both clubs aim to strengthen their attack this summer.
The 24 year old plays for Swiss champions FC Basel and has stood out after a fine season. Villarreal are keen on him as they look to replace Thierno Barry who joined from Basel in 2024. Barry impressed in his first season in La Liga with 11 goals in 35 games and is now being linked with a move to Everton.
Carlos arrived at Basel last summer from Yverdon Sport for just over three million euros. Since joining he has been a key player scoring 15 goals and providing two assists in 40 appearances. His performances helped Basel win both the Swiss Super League and the Swiss Cup.
Villarreal and Bologna are now both considering moves for the powerful striker according to reports in Sport. Carlos is under contract at Basel until 2028 and is valued at around 4.5 million euros.
Known for his physical strength, heading ability and finishing with both feet, Carlos is seen as a traditional centre forward who can also fit into modern attacking systems. In his career so far he has scored 50 goals in 132 matches in Spain and Switzerland.
Born in Ceuta to a Spanish mother and a Nigerian father, Carlos has expressed his wish to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria rather than the Spanish national team.
Although he has not always been a regular starter at Basel his progress over the last year has been impressive. A move this summer to Spain or Italy now seems very possible.
