Steph Curry delivered a performance for the ages for the Golden State Warriors as they defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 115-113 in a closely contested encounter at the Chase Center.
Curry tallied 45 points with 10 rebounds and 1 assist for the Golden State Warriors, including a terrific 100% shooting accuracy in the first quarter that saw him pick up 25 points. He recorded eight three-pointers in the match in total.
The Golden State Warriors have seen their record improve to 2-0 after also picking up a win against the Los Angeles Lakers on opening night. Paul George recorded 29 points with 11 rebounds for the Clippers, despite ending on the losing side.
Reigning champions Milwaukee Bucks were thrown off their perch after they defeated the Brooklyn Nets on opening night. They suffered a 137-95 defeat to the Miami Heat, equalling the record for the biggest points haul on the opening day of an NBA season.
Tyler Herro led the scoring despite starting on the bench for Miami Heat. The youngster tallied 27 points with six rebounds and five assists for the Heat, with Jimmy Butler adding a further 21 points and Bam Adebayo recording a 20-point and 13-rebound double-double.
The Bucks were missing starters Jrue Holiday and Brook Lopez, both of whom picked up injuries before the match.
Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo recorded 15 points with 10 rebounds for the Bucks, while D’Tigers star Jordan Nwora contributed 11 points, five rebounds and two assists, adding this to the impressive tally he got on the opening night against the Brooklyn Nets.
Atlanta Hawks defeated the Dallas Mavericks 113-87 in their first match of the season thanks to the efforts of Trae Young, who tallied 19 points and 14 assists, and Clint Capela, who also recorded a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds.
For the Mavericks, Slovenian ace Luka Doncic led the scoring with 18 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists even as they were soundly beaten.
