A powerful storm that swept through Toronto has caused significant damage to Rogers Stadium, with dramatic videos showing parts of the 50,000-capacity venue badly affected by extreme winds.
The severe weather struck Toronto and other parts of southern Ontario on Wednesday, September 2, bringing torrential rainfall, damaging winds, large hail, flooding and widespread power outages.
Rogers Stadium was among the major facilities caught in the storm.
Live Nation Canada, which operates the venue, confirmed that the stadium sustained “significant damage” during the extreme weather event.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported at the venue.
Videos Show Damage at Rogers Stadium
Videos circulating on social media showed the extent of the destruction, with sections of temporary stadium infrastructure appearing twisted and damaged following the storm.

Other footage showed damaged seating and structures around the stadium as the powerful weather system moved through the area.

Live Nation said it was assessing the extent of the damage following the storm.
The venue is an outdoor, purpose-built entertainment stadium located at YZD, the former Downsview Airport lands in Toronto.
Rogers Stadium opened in June 2025 and has a capacity of approximately 50,000 people. Live Nation says the venue welcomed more than 700,000 fans across 14 concerts during its first season.
Storm Causes Widespread Damage Across Toronto
The destruction at Rogers Stadium formed part of a much wider weather emergency across Toronto.
The storm brought powerful winds, heavy rainfall and large hail, while flooding affected roads and transit services.
Some areas of the city recorded more than 100 millimetres of rain, while tens of thousands of customers lost electricity.
Toronto officials said approximately 1,000 service requests were received following the storm as crews worked to remove floodwater, debris and damaged trees.
Videos from elsewhere in the Greater Toronto Area also showed flooded roads, fallen trees and vehicles caught in rising water.
What Happens Next at Rogers Stadium?
The immediate concern will be determining the full extent of the damage and whether repairs will affect upcoming events at the venue.
Live Nation said following the storm that an assessment of the damage was underway.
Until that assessment is completed, the impact on the stadium’s upcoming schedule remains unclear.
Rogers Stadium has quickly become one of Toronto’s major large-capacity entertainment venues since opening in 2025, making the scale of Wednesday’s damage particularly significant.
For now, the most important news is that despite the dramatic scenes at the stadium, no injuries were reported there.
The damage also comes less than two weeks before AC/DC are scheduled to perform at Rogers Stadium on September 16, adding further attention to how quickly the venue can be repaired.
