Who Will Win the 2024/2025 NWFL Title on the Dramatic Last Day?
The 2024/2025 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six will come to a thrilling end on Saturday, May 17, with all three final games kicking off at 3:00 pm at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
In one of the most dramatic finishes in NWFL history, four teams Nasarawa Amazons, Edo Queens, Bayelsa Queens, and Remo Stars Ladies still have a realistic chance of lifting the trophy.
But who will be crowned champions?
Bayelsa Queens Ready to Take Their Chance
For SportsRations’ Nsikakabasi Akpan Bayelsa Queens look the best placed to snatch the title. They face bottom-placed Naija Ratels, who have nothing left to play for after losing all four of their matches. With Bayelsa on seven points, a convincing win is highly likely and could be enough to move them top—if Nasarawa fail to win or Edo Queens only manage a slim victory.
Bayelsa have the firepower, motivation, and momentum. And with goal difference likely to play a key role, they will surely go all out for goals against a struggling Ratels side.
Tough Task for Nasarawa Amazons
League leaders Nasarawa Amazons, currently on eight points, must overcome reigning champions Edo Queens to secure the title. But this won’t be easy. Edo Queens are a tough nut to crack and sit just one point behind. A draw is a very likely outcome in this heavyweight clash or perhaps a narrow win for Edo.
A draw would open the door for Bayelsa Queens, especially if they win by a comfortable margin.
Remo Stars Ladies Need a Miracle
Remo Stars Ladies are still in the mix with six points but need a miracle to win the title. They must beat Rivers Angels and hope that all three teams above them slip up. That means Nasarawa Amazons and Edo Queens must draw or lose, and Bayelsa Queens must also fail to win big.
It’s a tall order, but in football, anything is possible.
All Eyes on the Clock
To ensure fairness and protect the integrity of the title race, all matches will kick off at the same time. “This is a historic moment,” said NWFL Chief Operating Officer Modupe Shabi. “We want the best team to emerge champion under the most transparent conditions.”
With goal difference, goals scored, and head-to-head records coming into play if teams finish level on points, every goal on Saturday will count.
Bayelsa Queens are the overwhelming favourites to emerge champions. They have the easier fixture and a clear path to the title if they do their job and others slip.
Expect a nail-biting finish as the 2024/2025 NWFL Super Six title is decided in 90 unforgettable minutes.
