Why Barcelona opted for Adama Traore instead of Raheem Sterling

Barcelona will announce the signing of Adama Traore upon completion of his medicals today or tomorrow.

The Catalan giants were presented the opportunity to sign Raheem Sterling from Manchester City but opted for their academy graduate Adama Traore.

Traore’s move is all but complete, the winger will join Barcelona for the rest of the season while Barcelona will sign him in the summer if he impresses.

Barcelona will pay €30m and add-ons if they are to make his move permanent from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Adama Traore is said to have reportedly turned down €120,000 a week from Spurs to sign with Barcelona for €15,000 a week.

Meanwhile, Barcelona Mateu Alemany Technical director reportedly turned down signing Raheem Sterling for Adama Traore because he believes that the former Liverpool man would find it difficult to adapt at Barcelona.
