Why Victor Osimhen will miss Galatasaray vs Gaziantep FK

After making his highly anticipated debut for Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig, Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has been ruled out of Tuesday’s clash against Gaziantep FK.

The decision comes due to his ineligibility for the rescheduled Matchday 3 fixture, as confirmed by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF).

Victor Osimhen, on a season-long loan from Napoli, made an immediate impact for Galatasaray, playing a crucial role in their commanding 5-0 victory over Rizespor in his debut.

However, despite his strong start, the Nigerian forward will be unavailable for the upcoming game at the Rams Park Stadyumu.

The TFF clarified that Osimhen’s absence is linked to the timing of his transfer. The original Matchday 3 fixture, set to take place earlier in the season, was postponed to accommodate Galatasaray’s involvement in the UEFA Champions League playoffs against Young Boys.

Since Osimhen’s transfer was completed just days before the close of the Turkish transfer window, he was not officially registered before the initial Matchday 3 date, rendering him ineligible for the rescheduled game.

Osimhen’s absence will be a blow for Galatasaray, who are counting on his firepower to maintain their strong start to the season. Nonetheless, fans are eagerly anticipating his return to action in subsequent fixtures as he continues to adapt to life in Turkey’s top flight.
