Xabi Alonso shares Nathan Tella tips ahead of his International debut
Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has shared tips about Super Eagles new-boy Nathan Tella who is set to make his International debut this week.
Tella is among twenty-three players invited for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification games vs Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
In his final game before travelling to Nigeria to honour his maiden call-up, Tella scored his first German Bundesliga goal in a 4-0 win over Union Berlin.
After the match against Union Berlin, Alonso praised Tella’s qualities and suggested how he could contribute effectively to the Super Eagles under Peseiro’s management.
“Nathan is a player that has the ability to just do the right thing, be in the right place. He has the quality to be in the box and makes the right runs. In Nigeria, they have great strikers, and maybe they could use good wingers.
” He’s a really nice guy with a strong mentality, he has a great attitude,” Alonso stated, as quoted by Bayer Leverkusen’s official X (Formerly Twitter) page.
Tella will arrive the Super Eagles camp as a direct replacement for AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze who was omitted for the squad to afford him time to properly recover from injury.
