Zlatan Ibrahimovic: “I lived the dream against Malmo”

Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has admitted that it was a “dream” to play and score against his boyhood club Malmo in the 5-0 victory in the Champions League on Wednesday night. The Sweden international, who began his career with his hometown club, scored PSG’s third as Laurent Blanc’s side sealed their spot in the knockout round with the commanding win.

The 34-year-old said that he has always had a good relationship with the Swedish club despite leaving so early in his career, but admitted that it was a dream to score on his homecoming after 14 years. “I lived a dream tonight, coming back,” he told reporters after the game.

“On top of that I scored one. I am very happy. Since the beginning, there has always been a great relationship between Malmo’s fans and me. “I got goosebumps. It felt like I was home again. This is the icing on the cake. I have been through a lot, and now this.

“This is a great moment for me, my family and everyone who hung on. This was where it all began and to come here with PSG when I am on top and do what I do best: playing football. I do not know how many people get to experience it, but I do not care about it because I have experienced it.” Ibrahimovic scored 16 goals in 40 appearances for Malmo before leaving for Ajax in 2001 as a 19-year-old.
