Wizards’ John Wall in ´no rush´ with recovery from knee surgeries
The Washington Wizards would love to have point guard John Wall in their line-up to begin the NBA season.
Wall would like that too, but the three-time All-Star is cautiously dealing with his surgically repaired knees.
“I’m right where I’m supposed to be but I’m not in no rush,” Wall said, via The Washington Post. “I’m just taking it day by day and just hopeful that I’m ready for the opening of the season.”
Wall, 25, underwent surgery on both his knees in May. Though the one on his right knee was a small procedure, he acknowledged the injury to his left knee was potentially serious, and he could have missed significant had he not taken care of it when he did.
According to reports, Wall can now do most of the things that make him a special player — run, jump and endure two-a-day workouts — but he has not yet been cleared to play one-on-one.
“I’m very excited to be back on the court because I will tell you sitting on the table all day and doing those boring exercises is no fun,” Wall said. “Six hours out of the day, it’s the frustrating part in this.
“A lot of people keep asking me the same question every day but I enjoy it. It’s another challenge I have to take but I’m willing to conquer [it] and do whatever I have to do to prepare myself and come back 100 percent and have a better season than what I had last year.”
That will be a tall order. Wall is coming off of three straight All-Star seasons, and averaged a career-high 19.9 points per game in 2015-16.
