Hamilton wary of Ferrari and Red Bull
Lewis Hamilton is not expecting an “easy-breeze drive” at the Singapore Grand Prix and the Formula One world champion is predicting Ferrari and Red Bull to be “on it” this weekend.
Championship leader Hamilton heads to the Marina Bay Street Circuit with just a two-point advantage over Nico Rosberg after his Mercedes team-mate made it back-to-back victories in Monza last time out.
Hamilton had a race to forget under the lights in Singapore last year, retiring after his car lost power before Sebastian Vettel claimed victory for Ferrari.
The Briton is braced for another testing weekend as he aims to get back on top of the podium to halt Rosberg’s momentum.
“We didn’t have the greatest weekend there last year, so hopefully we’re on top of that now. I guess we’ll find out in a few days’ time.” Hamilton said.
“Either way, it’s not going to be an easy-breezy drive. Even when we won in 2014 it wasn’t straightforward,
“Ferrari and Red Bull will be on it I’m sure, so we’ve got a big fight on our hands if we are up at the front. I love a battle, so I’m excited to see how it plays out.”
Rosberg crossed the line in fourth spot in Singapore 12 months ago, with Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo second and Kimi Raikkonen ensuring Ferrari were able to celebrate first and third.
