Ahmed Musa will continue to play for Super Eagles under two conditions

Captain Ahmed Musa is open to playing for the Super Eagles under two conditions, reports SportsRation.

The Fatih Karagumruk winger in an interview with the journalist present at the Abuja Stadium on Monday debunked the news of his retirement.

Recall, former Super Eagles interim coach, Austin Eguavoen said Ahmed Musa has agreed to retire after the 2021 AFCON.

“He has agreed that after the World Cup he’s going to retire. We will still accord him that respect and honour because he’s got a major role to play in the team,” Eguavoen was quoted.

“Ahmed Musa has got some leadership qualities whether we like it or not as well but he can always give us some good 45-60 minutes when it becomes really necessary, that is why we try to see how we can help him honorably leave the scene hopefully after the World Cup,” Eguavoen said.

But the 29-year-old attacker has denied these claims stating that he would be open to playing for Super Eagles as long as he is active and gets call-ups.

“Yes, I said it was my last tournament, but I did not say I am out of the Super Eagles; what people say is their opinion but for me, I am still a player of the Super Eagles.

“I have not called it quit and the coaches know that I have something to give and that’s why I am here with the team”, he told journalists during yesterday’s training.

“The next AFCON is in 2023, so if I am still playing active football and the coach says he still wants me around, I am very much available to give my best.

“The invitation is not in my hands, only they can invite and if they do, I would always honour the invitation.”
