Akinkunmi Amoo: Why I rejected Milan and Monaco for Hammarby

Hammarby new signing Akinkunmi Amoo has revealed why rejected the advances from Italian giants, AC Milan and French Ligue 1 top side, Monaco.

The Golden Eaglets attacker joined the Swedish club co-owned by Zlatan Ibrahimovic this month after he turned 18-year-old for an undisclosed fee.

Akinkunmi Amoo who has disclosed that he could play as a winger or as an attacking midfielder said he turned down advances from other clubs to pick Hammarby.

He said that two factors influenced his decision to sign for the Swedish club at the expense of other clubs who wanted him.

He told SportExpressen that the first factor was how Swedish club accepted and treated him like one of their own.

“It’s really easy there. Hammarby have taken care of me and I have felt great support throughout,” he said.

“When I visited the club in Stockholm I became one in the gang immediately which made me happy.”

He also said meeting the great Zlatan Ibrahimovic was also a big factor.

“It was absolutely incredible. I was very impressed and happy,” he said.

“Zlatan is an incredibly great footballer who I look up to, but above all a very nice person.

“We talked a lot when we met and he gave me advice for the future.

“I became more confident after our conversation.”
