Alternative Sports You Should Try

Basketball, soccer, baseball or cricket are some of the most popular sports in the world. But there is a whole world out there of team and solo sports that you can get involved in. It’s always fun to think outside the box and play something that might not be easy for you.

You might decide that rugby, tennis or even swimming are just about as adventurous as it gets – but wait! Here is a list of alternative and super fun sports.

Indoor Skydiving

The feeling of falling without the danger of actually jumping from an airplane. Some people don’t love the idea of jumping out into the big blue and falling for thousands of feet – and while adrenaline can be fun, it’s not everyone’s jam. Book an indoor skydiving session, and you’ll be hooked in no time.

Archery

Archery is not just something that looks good on robin hood and brave. It’s a really enjoyable a skill-building sport. You can find archery clubs that have in-house competitions, and skilling up sessions. So it doesn’t matter if you are au fait with a compound hunting bow, or a basic bow – it’s fun, and skill packed.

Paintballing

This one has levels to it too. You can play competitively in teams, or you can play for fun with mates at a local paintballing facility. This has risen in popularity in the last ten or so years. Although it is pretty standard to end up with a few bruises, it is a lot of fun. It’s not too expensive, it is a lot of fun, and you can go in reasonably big groups. Just imagine being a sniper and getting the final shot that wins the match.

Roller Derby

Four-wheeled fun, but not as you know it. If you ever spent hours skating with your friends on the weekend, even just around the block a few times, then this might be the one for you. Roller derby is played on an oval-shaped track and typically has 2 teams of 5. Everyone skate in the same direction and the winning team is the one with the most points. Fast, fun and definitely one for your fitness levels.

Zorbing

There might not be much out there that is more fun throwing yourself knelt a giant bouncy bubble ball and rolling down a giant hill. You can also Zorb across the water. It’s a test of balance and bravery, there are ones with added challenges like water inside the zorbing ball too.

When it comes to sports, trying a little bit of everything will give you a guide to what you do and don’t enjoy. Where one person might relish the idea of skating at high speeds, the next might enjoy the gentler pace of curling. Team sports have the added bonus of adding to your social circles. And while it’s always nice to have friends, sports teams have the added layer of trust and reliability as you work together for a common goal. And in general? It’s a lot of fun.
