Colombia Top Group K After Thrilling Draw With Portugal as DR Congo Also Reach Round of 32

Colombia finished top of Group K after playing out an entertaining 0-0 draw against Portugal in Miami, with both teams already assured of a place in the Round of 32 before kick-off.
The result saw Colombia end the group stage with seven points, while Portugal finished second with five points. DR Congo, who beat Uzbekistan 3-1, also progressed as one of the best third-placed teams.
Despite the lack of goals, the match was one of the most exciting games of the tournament so far, with both sides creating numerous chances. Colombia dominated much of the contest, registering 24 of the 37 shots attempted in the match.
Colombia goalkeeper Camilo Vargas and Portugal’s Diogo Costa both produced outstanding saves in the first half to keep the score level. Jhon Cordoba, Richard Rios, Gustavo Puerta and Luis Suarez all came close for the South Americans, while Bruno Fernandes was denied by a brilliant save from Vargas.
Veteran Portuguese captain Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored twice in the 5-0 win over Uzbekistan, struggled to make an impact and remained largely quiet throughout the encounter.
Colombia thought they had secured a dramatic late winner when Davinson Sanchez headed home in the 90th minute, but the goal was ruled out for a marginal offside after a review.
James Rodriguez was once again the standout performer for Colombia, producing an impressive display in what was his record-breaking 11th World Cup appearance for his country.
Colombia will now face Ghana in the Round of 32, while Portugal take on Croatia as both teams continue their quest for World Cup glory.
