Contract details as Chelsea complete signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig

Chelsea have completed the signing of German striker, Timo Werner from RB Leipzig after agreeing a deal with the player and his club.

Chelsea beat off competition from soon to become Premier League champions, Liverpool for a deal for the 24 year old striker who says he is raring to go.

After waiting for so long the deal has finally be signed and announced by all the parties involved; Chelsea, RB Leipzig and Timo Werner.

Timo Werner told the club official how delighted he was joining the London club.

“I am delighted to be signing for Chelsea, it is a very proud moment for me to be joining this great club.

“I of course want to thank RB Leipzig, the club and the fans, for four fantastic years. You will forever be in my heart.

“I look forward to next season with my new team-mates, my new manager and of course the Chelsea fans. Together we have a very successful future ahead of us.”

Chelsea have agreed to pay €50m (£45m) to trigger the release clause of Werner, who is set to earn more than €10m (£9m) per season worth £170k-a-week.

A £12m fee is reportedly paid to his agent Karlheinz Forster, taking the total outlay to more than £100m over five years.

The RB Leipzig striker will also sign a five-year deal and also join his new teammates this July meaning he wouldn’t be available for selection when RB Leipzig continue their Champions League chase this summer.

Timo Werner has made a total of 157 appearances for RB Leipzig, scoring 93 goals and making 40 assists, developing into one of Europe’s most coveted forwards.
