D’Tigress Announce 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Squad
Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have announced their final squad for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin.
The African champions will compete at the tournament from September 4 to 13, with head coach Rena Wakama leading the team.
The squad combines experienced players with young and promising talents as Nigeria prepare to face the best teams in the world.
The players named in the squad are Amy Okonkwo, Elizabeth Balogun, Ezinne Kalu, Promise Amukamara, Murjanatu Musa, Rita Igbokwe, Jordan Obi, Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah and Victoria Macaulay.
Also included are Grace Efosa-Aguebor, Ifunanya Okoro, Nora Ezike, Nicole Enabosi, Uche Izoje, Maryam Dauda, Gabby White and Idubamo Beggi.
D’Tigress secured their place at the World Cup after winning their fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s AfroBasket title in 2025.
The achievement further confirmed Nigeria’s strong position in African women’s basketball.
Nigeria will begin their World Cup campaign against Korea on September 4 before facing Hungary on September 5. Their final group match will be against France on September 7.
The team will be hoping to carry their impressive form from the African championship to the global stage as they aim to make a strong impression in Berlin.
