Former Bayern Munich star mentions what Nigeria’s Chidera Ejuke has added to his game

Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke continues to make waves at Royal Antwerp, impressing under the watchful eye of former Bayern Munich star and current Antwerp coach, Mark van Bommel.

Ejuke’s resurgence mirrors that of his club, as they both enjoy newfound success under van Bommel’s guidance.

In a recent interview, Mark van Bommel expressed his admiration for Ejuke’s exceptional talent, particularly his dribbling skills, which have drawn comparisons to the legendary Austin Jay Jay Okocha.

However, what truly stands out for Mark van Bommel is Ejuke’s defensive growth, showcasing a newfound responsibility in tracking back and contributing defensively.

“Sometimes I think ‘wow’ when I see the boys dribbling,” van Bommel remarked, highlighting Ejuke’s mesmerizing dribbling abilities. “He came to us as a fantastic dribbler, but the most important thing he learned with us is to come back to defend.”

This defensive evolution has transformed Ejuke into a more complete player, adding depth to his game beyond being just a flashy winger. His recent performance against St Truiden exemplified this growth, where he not only orchestrated the attack but also contributed defensively, capping it off with a goal and an assist in a commanding 3-0 victory.

Ejuke’s impact extends beyond individual accolades, as his selfless playmaking and relentless work rate have endeared him to both his manager and fans alike. With impressive stats, including 50 completed dribbles this season, Ejuke’s contribution to Royal Antwerp’s resurgence cannot be overstated.

As Royal Antwerp aims to defend their Jupiler crown, Ejuke’s stellar performances serve as a beacon of hope, proving that sometimes, a change of scenery is all it takes to reignite a forgotten talent.

The winger has slipped off Nigeria National team spotlight following a dip in form but will certainly get a look-in with his recent performances.
