Iga Swiatek Congratulates Coco Gauff and Carlos Alcaraz After French Open Wins

Iga Swiatek has sent warm messages to Coco Gauff and Carlos Alcaraz after both players won titles at the 2025 French Open.

Before this year’s tournament, Swiatek had won the last three French Open titles. However, she did not reach the final this time. Instead, it was Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka who faced off for the women’s title, with Gauff coming from behind to beat the world number one 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-4 and win her first French Open crown.

Belarusian star Sabalenka later said she believed Swiatek would have won the final if she had played Gauff, but it was Gauff who lifted the trophy.

On the men’s side, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz won his first French Open title by defeating world number one Jannik Sinner in the final.

Swiatek took to Instagram to reflect on her time in Paris and to congratulate both champions. She wrote:

“Thank you Paris and Roland Garros! It’s been an amazing time on and off the court with some great challenges and high-quality matches. I’m very proud of the work we’ve done with my team, and I’ve learnt a lot. Every year in Paris gives me energy for the rest of the season, and now I’m starting my grass court preparations very soon.”

She added:
“Congrats Coco Gauff and Carlos Alcaraz on your trophies – we’ve seen some absolutely amazing tennis from both of you. Wow.”

Gauff, clearly touched by the message, replied: “Thank you so much Iga !”

Coco Gauff French Open

Swiatek’s kind words reflect the mutual respect that has become more common in women’s tennis recently. Players like Gauff, Pegula, and Paolini are part of a close-knit group pushing one another to improve, even as fierce rivalries develop on court.

There is growing talk that Gauff and Sabalenka could become the next big rivalry in women’s tennis. The two have already met in high-stakes matches, including last month’s Madrid Open final, where Sabalenka won in straight sets.

Looking at the latest WTA rankings, Sabalenka is now world number one, with Gauff close behind in second. Swiatek, who held the top spot for a long time, has now slipped to seventh after her early exit in Paris.

As the grass court season begins, tennis fans will be keeping a close eye on these exciting rivalries – and on how Swiatek responds to her French Open setback.
