Iwobi Hails Chukwueze After Man of the Match Display Against Tottenham

Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has showered praise on Samuel Chukwueze after the winger delivered a dazzling Man of the Match performance in Fulham’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur last month.

Chukwueze, currently on loan from AC Milan, has endured two difficult seasons in Italy, but his recent rise in form is drawing attention. The 26-year-old came off the bench to assist Raul Jimenez’s winner against Sunderland last week, and he followed it up with another electric display against Spurs at the London Stadium.

Just four minutes into the encounter, Chukwueze set up Kenny Tete for Fulham’s opener. The Nigerian winger came close to getting on the scoresheet himself, seeing one attempt come off the woodwork and another blocked by a superb sliding challenge from Micky van de Ven after rounding goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Fulham boss Marco Silva described Chukwueze as “creative and dangerous,” expressing satisfaction with his performance and growing influence in the team.

Speaking after the match, Iwobi credited the former Villarreal winger and explained how Chukwueze can return fully to his best.

“We have a nice brotherhood in the team. Everyone motivates each other, and everyone fights for each other,” Iwobi said. “He is energetic on and off the pitch. We are happy to have him. You can see the magic he does on the field. He is a great addition to the club.”

Iwobi revealed that Chukwueze is fondly called “Chukwu-magic” in training — a nickname born from his skill and confidence on the ball — and urged him to maintain the same level of performance going forward.

“He just needs to stay consistent,” the midfielder added. “He is able to do it in training and in matches, and we want to give him that confidence.”

Fulham’s victory over Tottenham marked their first away win against the reigning UEFA Europa League champions since 2013 and also their first back-to-back league win of the season. The result lifts the Cottagers to 15th on the Premier League table with 17 points from 13 matches.

Marco Silva’s side will now turn their focus to a difficult test against Manchester City as they look to build on their renewed momentum.
