Kiki Iriafen Named WNBA All-Star Reserve After Winning Rookie of the Year
Kiki Iriafen has been selected as a reserve for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, capping off a fantastic debut season with the Washington Mystics.
The 23-year-old forward, born in the United States to Nigerian parents, Yemi and Harrison Iriafen, was picked fourth overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Since then, she has quickly made a name for herself.
Her place on the All-Star team, set to play on 19 July in Indianapolis, comes shortly after she was crowned WNBA Rookie of the Year.
In May 2025, Iriafen made history by becoming the first Mystics player to win the WNBA Rookie of the Month award. That month, she averaged 13.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 1 assist per game, with a shooting percentage of 47.4%.
Iriafen’s Nigerian heritage was proudly celebrated during the draft, where she wore a stunning beaded dress designed by a Nigerian fashion designer.
She now joins fellow Nigerian-American and former WNBA MVP, Nneka Ogwumike of the Seattle Storm, on this year’s All-Star team.
The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game will feature 22 players, a mix of experienced stars and rising talents. Team captains Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier will choose the teams ahead of the match.
