Manchester United set for special documentary release

Amidst current challenges facing Manchester United, fans are set to embark on a nostalgic journey as the club prepares to release a documentary series titled “99,” chronicling the remarkable 1999 treble-winning season.

Directed by the likes of David Beckham, Andy Cole, Gary Neville, Peter Schmeichel, and Paul Scholes, the three-part documentary promises to delve deep into a season marked by unparalleled success, drama, and sheer determination.

In 1999, under the leadership of Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United achieved an extraordinary feat by clinching the FA Cup, Champions League, and Premier League titles, etching their names in football history. The achievement was a milestone that took more than 20 years for any other club, including rivals Manchester City, to replicate.

The documentary series, set to be available on Amazon Prime, will explore iconic moments from the treble-winning season. From Roy Keane’s heroic performance in the Champions League semi-final against Juventus to Ryan Giggs’ unforgettable FA Cup semi-final goal against Arsenal, and the euphoria of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s last-second winner in the Champions League final, the narrative promises to capture the essence of Manchester United’s historic triumph.

David Beckham, sharing the excitement on social media alongside the trailer, expressed anticipation for the release, stating, “25 years since that historic treble-winning season… ’99’… a three-part documentary series covering an incredible 10 days.”

Featuring interviews with key figures such as Dwight Yorke, Teddy Sheringham, Phil Neville, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the documentary series aims to unveil untold stories behind Manchester United’s legendary achievement. The release date is May 17, 2024.
