Mikel Obi talks about Boro’s failure to make playoffs cut, the fans and his goal against Rotherham

Super Eagles and Boro captain John Obi Mikel believes Boro will bounce back next season after failing to make the cut this season.

Despite winning 2-1 in their last game against Rotherham, the result wasn’t enough as they failed to make the playoffs spot.

A win for Boro in their clash against Rotherham would have sealed a playoffs spot had Derby dropped points in their clash against WestBrom but Frank Lampard side won, hence the reason Boro failed to qualify.

The former Chelsea star was also full of praise for Boro fans who he said have been fantastic to him.

“We knew coming into the game it wasn’t in our hands,” he said.

“We had a job to do and that was win the game, and see what happens. The other results didn’t go our way but it will be a goal to remember for me.

“The fans have been fantastic with me and I think we deserve to be in the Play-Offs.

“But it’s a big club and I’m sure Boro will bounce back next year.”
