‘Mikel opens locked doors on and off the pitch’, Rohr wants his captain back in Super Eagles

Super Eagles headcoach Gernot with opened arms is ready to welcome back John Mikel Obi into the national team set up ahead of 2019 AFCON.

Gernot Rohr is a adamant that John Mikel Obi who is yet to kick a ball for the Super Eagles since his last game in Nigeria’s 2-1 loss to Argentina at the 2018 FIFA World is an important piece for AFCON 2018.

Hence, Rohr has reportedly travelled to London to to discuss Super Eagles plans with his skipper and inform him of his role ahead of the biggest African Football showpiece.

“The team also need the personality of Mikel, both on and off the pitch,” said an NFF chief as quoted by ScoreNigeria

“Do you know if we need five sets of tracksuits, Mikel will get the NFF leadership to meet that need?

“Without him, we may at best get two sets of tracksuits.

“He’s a leader respected by both the players and officials.”

As we await the provisional list it will be shocking if John Mikel Obi is name is not included on the list as the Nigerian has shown recently that he can still cut it at the top.

Nigeria are in Group B alongside Guinea and debutants Burundi, and Madagascar.
