Nigeria Premier Football League matchday thirteen review

The 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League season entered matchday thirteen this weekend with nine matches decided on 9/10 December, 2023. Here is a review of the week.

Doma United FC kicked off the weeks action on Saturday, December 9, 2023 with a 1-0 win over Kano Pillars FC at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe State.

The Abia derby between Enyimba FC vs Abia Warriors headlined the games on Sunday, December 10.

NPFL title holders, Enyimba FC opened the scoring in Aba through Happy Eze six minutes before the halftime break.

C. Nnachi made it 2-0 for the People’s Elephants on the hour mark before Augustine Njoku halved the deficit for Abia Warriors in stoppage time as it finished 2-1.

In Ikenne, Remo Stars returned to the top of the table after a 2-0 win over Kwara United.

Adams Olamilekan and Samad Kadiri were the goal scorers for Daniel Ogunmodede tutored Sky Blues.

Plateau United FC recorded their first away win of the season with a 2-3 win over Niger Tonardoes at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

Harrison Ebah fired Plateau United ahead on three minutes but Tornadoes fought-back courtesy of a brace from Bashir Usman.

A dramtic final quater saw Albert Hilary and Silas Nenrot score to hand visiting Plateau United maximum points in a strange land.

In Eket, Seyi Oguntayo scored with a sublime strike from outside the box as Akwa United defeated Lobi Stars 1-0 for their third win of the season.

At the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Bendel Insurance claimed a 1-0 win against Sunshine Stars courtesy of a Benjamin Tanimu fourth minute penalty-kick.

In Yenegoa, Bayelsa United FC took out Fidelis Ilechukwu tutored Enugu Rangers 2-0 to boost their fight against the drop.

Kehinde Lawal and Ekeson Okorie bagged the goals that gave the Restoration Boys the maximum points.

Gombe United beat Heartland FC 2-0 at the Pantami Township Stadium .

Umar Abba fired the Savannah Scorpions ahead in the first minute as they searched for a win to clip a very poor run. Alakwe Chijioke doubled the advantage for United three minutes before the hour mark to seal a 2-0 win over bottom of the table, Heartland FC.
