Nigerian Long Jumper Ruth Usoro confirms World Athletics Championship qualification with 6.87m leap

Joins Ese Brume as second Nigerian Athlete to qualify for Women's Long Jump

25-year old Nigerian female Long Jumper Ruth Usoro has confirmed her automatic ticket to the 2023 World Championships, with a leap of 6.87m.

That was enough for qualification by Entry standard to this year’s Championships in Budapest Hungary.

Usoro now joins Ese Brume (7.00m) as the 2nd Nigerian athlete to qualify for women’s Long Jump event.

Three days earlier, Ruth Usoro hit the record books as she jumped the farthest distance in the World this year.

According to Making Of Champions, that was not only a WL, but also a new Personal Best for the Nigerian athletep who goes past Malaika Mihambo in the toplist. The German is currently 2nd this season with 6.83m.

In 2022 when Usoro and Ese Brume qualified for the World Athletics Championships, it was the first time two Nigerian female jumpers will reach the Championship final.

The 2023 World Athletics Championships will take place in Budapest Hungary in August.
