Nigerians Abroad: Sor, Odey, Ndidi included in top 10 from midweek games

At least 14 Nigerian players were involved for their clubs in different European competitions during the midweek and we have picked the top 10 from the list.

Only one player was involved in the highest-ranked European club competition, while a few were involved in the second and third tiers competitions.

Here are sportsration top 10 from the midweek.

10. Peter Olayinka Slavia Prague 3-2 Fenerbahce (Agg 6-4)

Peter Olayinka was heavily involved again as Slavia Prague secured an aggregate 6-4 win against Fenerbahce with a 3-2 win on Thursday in a Europa Conference League game.

9. Victor Osimhen (Napoli 2-4 Barcelona agg 3-5)

Not the result the Super Eagles star striker and his teammates wanted as they suffered a 4-2 home loss on Thursday.
They got eliminated in the knockout round after an aggregated 3-5 loss to Barcelona.

Victor was however involved as usual, he won his side the penalty with which they scored their only goal of the game Europa League encounter.

8. Joe Aribo (Rangers 2-2 Borussia Dortmund agg 6-4)

It was almost certain that Joe Aribo and his Rangers teammates were through to the next round after their impressive 4-2 away win in the first leg clash against Dortmund.

Yet, they ensured they didn’t lose the second leg clash to the free-scoring Dortmund. Joe Aribo was on as Rangers secured a 2-2 draw on Thursday.

7. Samuel Chukwueze (Villarreal 1-1 Juventus)

Samuel Chukwueze was the only Super Eagles player in action during the Champions League games played on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Samu, made his impact felt as the reigning Europa League winners got a 1-1 draw against Juventus. Samuel Chukwueze escaped a season-ending injury after a dangerous play from Adrien Rabiot.

6. Sanusi Zaidu (Lazio 2-2 Porto agg 3-4)
Super Eagles left-back Sanusi Zaidu was involved as Porto played a 2-2 draw in Italy for an aggregate 4-3 win to book a place in the next round of the Europa League.

5. Kelechi Iheanacho (Randers FC 1-3 Leicester City agg 2-7)

Kelechi Iheanacho gave an assist as Leicester City trashed Randers FC 3-1 for an aggregate win of 7-2 in their Europa Conference League game.

He won the freekick that led to the second goal and also assisted the third goal, but goals were scored by James Madison.

4. Wilfred Ndidi (Randers FC 1-3 Leicester City agg 2-7)

Wilfred Ndidi provided an assist as Leicester City zoomed into the next round after demolishing Randers over two legs. He assisted the first goal of the game.

3. Calvin Bassey Ughelumba (Rangers 2-2 Borussia Dortmund agg 6-4)

Calvin Bassey Ughelumba assisted Rangers second goal in the 2-2 home draw in the Europa League game.

2. Stephen Odey (Randers FC 1-3 Leicester City agg 2-7)

Former MFM FC striker Stephen Odey got on the scorers’ chart after missing more than 5 goal scoring chances.

It was Kasper Schmeichel who denied him on those occasions that eventually gifted him the goal in their Europa Conference League game.

1. Collins Sor (Slavia Prague 3-2 Fenerbahce agg 6-4)

Collins Sor scored two great goals to hand Slavia Prague a 3-2 home win against Fenerbahce for an aggregate 6-4 win.

He was involved in three goals, two goals, and one assist over the two Europa Conference League games.
