No James No Problem as Los Angeles Lakers make it two wins on the bounce

Warriors, Mavericks, Knicks all win

The Los Angeles Lakers continued with their revival in the NBA as they claimed a second successive win by a 125-121 scoreline against the San Antonio Spurs, improving their record for the 2021/22 season to 2-2.

With Los Angeles Lakers icon LeBron James having picked up a leg injury in their win over the Memphis Grizzlies, he was ruled out of the match against the Spurs despite soldiering on and finishing the match in which he got injured.

James’ place in the starting five was taken by 23-year-old Malik Monk. It was, however, the duo of Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis that made the most telling contributions for the Lakers. Both men combined for 68 points on the night, with Westbrook recording 33 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists and Davis contributing 35 points, 17 rebounds and four assists.

Los Angeles Lakers have now won two successive games for the first time since the back end of last season after previously losing 11 on the bounce.

Steph Curry led the scoring for the Golden State Warriors as they continued their brilliant start to the season by picking up another win, this time, over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Curry contributed 23 points as his side won the match 106-98 to leave them unbeaten after four matches.

Utah Jazz improved their record to 4-0 after a 122-110 win over the Denver Nuggets. Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell combined for 45 points in the match as the Jazz remain one of two teams in the Western Conference to have won all four matches this season.

Dallas Mavericks picked up a 116-106 win over the Houston Rockets to record their second win of the season. Luka Doncic led the scoring for the Mavericks with 26 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists.

New York Knicks defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 122-99 in their NBA encounter. Julius Randle contributed a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Kemba Walker recorded 19 points and Evan Fournier picked up 18 points.
