Odion Ighalo: It is difficult for a striker to score for Super Eagles

Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has said he is not to be blamed for Eagles goal scoring woes at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.

Eagles who are one of the favourite to win the title could be on their back to Nigeria on Sunday after setting up a clash against defending champions Cameroon in the round of 16.

Nigeria only scored two goals in the three games they’ve played so far but coming in the second half of the games against Burundi and Guinea.

The team and manager came under heavy criticism after their embarrassing 2-0 loss to Madagascar in their last game.

Ighalo who himself share part of the blame for missing chances has said the blame should be to his teammates because they don’t put him in positions to score goals.

The Shanghai Shenshua striker said he hardly get passes from his teammates.

“You can count how many through passes I have got in the matches and if you don’t get passes, there is not much you can do as a striker,” he said. ”

Nigeria will on Saturday by 5 pm tackle the Indomitable Lions for a place in the last eight where the winners of the clash between Egypt and South Africa is waiting.
