Odion Ighalo’s brace helps Super Eagles end Indomitable Lions unbeaten AFCON run

Odion Ighalo scored a brace to help Super Eagles of Nigeria secure a 3-2 win against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the AFCON 2019 round of 16 game.

The Shanghai Shenshua striker fired in two goals and assisted the the third to help Nigeria end Cameroon’s 9-game unbeaten run.

Odion Ighalo opened the scoring for Eagles in the 19th minute when poked home from close range from a corner kick.

It was all Nigeria affair but they wasted their chances until they allowed the defending champions back into the game.

Their attacking play paid off when they scored two quick goals, Kenneth Omeruo was the guilty one as Stephane Bahoken scored from close range in the 41st minute to draw the game for Cameroon.

Three minutes after the equaliser Cameroon took the lead through Clinton N’Jie who came to live after switching flanks.

The second half was all Eagles affair and they got a well deserved equalisers when Odion Ighalo completed his brace with a fine strike in the 63rd minutes.

Three minutes after the equaliser, Odion Ighalo combined with Alex Iwobi who scored the winning goal.

Nigeria through to the quarter-finals where the winners of the game between South Africa and Egypt is waiting.
