Okocha reveals why he backs Messi not Ronaldo as the G.O.A.T

Super Eagles legend Austin Jay-Jay Okocha has added his voice to the long-standing debate over who is the greatest footballer of all time (GOAT), choosing Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo.

In a conversation with Pulse during their “Fun Facts” show, Okocha was asked to weigh in on the Messi vs. Ronaldo debate, which has divided football fans for over a decade.

Initially, Okocha, known for his flair and creativity during his playing days, took a diplomatic stance, acknowledging the greatness of both players. However, when pressed to make a choice, the former Nigerian international named Messi as his personal GOAT, citing the Argentine’s “natural” ability as the key reason for his preference.

“They are both G.O.A.Ts, by the way. But my personal G.O.A.T is Messi,” Okocha said. “Because he looks more natural to me,” he added.

Okocha’s opinion aligns with those who believe Messi’s effortless style and natural talent make him stand out. Messi’s consistency and achievements, including winning the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022, have further solidified his place in the hearts of many fans and football legends alike.

Okocha, revered for his own technical brilliance, is the latest football icon to declare his allegiance in the GOAT debate, which has captivated the football world for years.

His opinion adds weight to the growing list of players and pundits who favour Messi’s unique combination of vision, dribbling, and football intelligence over Ronaldo’s power, physicality, and goal-scoring prowess.

The debate between Messi and Ronaldo will continue, but with legends like Okocha backing Messi, the Argentine may have the upper hand in this never-ending battle for football supremacy.
