Peseiro tips Osimhen to become next Super Eagles captain
Portuguese gaffer Jose Peseiro has tipped Napoli SSC forward, Victor Osimhen to become the next captain of Nigeria. SportsRation reports.
Peseiro made the prediction during a chat with Italian news outlet Gazetta Dello on Saturday, December 9, 2023.
The Super Eagles head coach is currently preparing to lead Osimhen and the Nigerian team’s charge for a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title in Ivory Coast.
” He is a hard worker, a leader without armband, a tireless worker, I am sure he will go on to become the next captain of Nigeria,” Peseiro is quoted by Gazetto dello sport.
Nigeria’s current skipper Ahmed Musa has not made the roster for the last three international engagements while assistant skipper, William Troost-Ekong has not had a look-in recently too.
In their abscence, Kenneth Omeruo, Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon and Kelechi Iheanacho have juggled the armband as most senior members of the Super Eagles squad.
Peseiro despite the future Super Eagles captain armband claims has a job with the team until the end of the AFCON in Ivory Coast.
If he fails to lead Nigeria to the final, he will not get a new contract.
As earlier reported, former Tanzania national team coach, Emmanuel Amunike is favoured to replace Peseiro as Super Eagles coach.
