Senegal Become First African Nation to beat England With 3-1 Friendly Win

Senegal put on a strong performance to beat England 3-1 in an international friendly at the City Ground, becoming the first African team to defeat the Three Lions.

England took the lead early through Harry Kane, who scored in the 7th minute. But Senegal stayed calm and focused, slowly growing into the game.

Just before half-time, Ismaila Sarr equalised after Kyle Walker lost concentration. Sarr finished calmly at the far post, scoring the first goal England have conceded since Thomas Tuchel became manager.

After the break, Habib Diarra gave Senegal the lead. He broke through England’s defence and beat Dean Henderson at his near post.

England pushed for a goal, but Senegal’s goalkeeper Edouard Mendy made some important saves, stopping efforts from Morgan Gibbs-White and Bukayo Saka. Jude Bellingham thought he had scored, but VAR ruled it out for handball by Levi Colwill.

Senegal sealed the win in stoppage time when Cheikh Sabaly took advantage of a mistake by Curtis Jones, calmly scoring to quiet the home fans.

The result ended England’s 21-match unbeaten run against African teams. For Senegal, it was a proud and memorable night in Nottingham.
