Turkish Football Federation President Faces Calls to Resign Over Threats to Osimhen Galatasaray

The president of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu, is facing pressure to resign after making threatening remarks about Galatasaray chairman, Dursun Ozbek, during a live broadcast.

Haciosmanoglu made the comments on TRT Spor, warning Ozbek of “heavy costs.” Many saw these comments as a threat, leading to calls for his resignation. Critics argue that his actions show he cannot be fair in his role as president of the TFF.

In response, Ozbek condemned the remarks, saying, “The TFF president openly threatened me on live television. I have always fought against such cheap threats, and I will continue to do so.”

Galatasaray and others are demanding Haciosmanoglu step down, saying his behavior goes against the fairness needed for his position.

Haciosmanoglu has a history of controversy. In 2015, as president of Trabzonspor, he was involved in an incident where referees were locked in a room for hours after a match. The referees were only released after the intervention of Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Haciosmanoglu and others faced legal penalties for this.

More recently, he has faced criticism for his involvement in a villa project in Bodrum that could harm a wetland area. Environmentalists and locals are concerned about the project, which Haciosmanoglu says will benefit national athletes.

Many believe Haciosmanoglu’s actions are damaging the integrity of football in Turkey, and they are urging him to resign from his position as TFF president
