Victor Boniface Opens Up on Milan Move, Life at Bremen, and Social Media Criticism

Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has shared his thoughts on his failed transfer to AC Milan, his departure from Bayer Leverkusen, and the attention surrounding his social media activity.

Boniface, who joined Werder Bremen on loan during the summer, said he was calm after his proposed move to Italy collapsed. According to him, setbacks are part of football, and he chose not to dwell on it.

“When the Milan deal didn’t go through, I was just relaxing with my friends. Things like that happen in football all the time,” he said, expressing contentment with his new chapter. “I love Germany. I really do.”

After helping Bayer Leverkusen win their first-ever Bundesliga title, Boniface found himself out of the club’s plans under new management. Despite missing several matches due to injury, he felt disappointed to be deemed surplus to requirements. “I missed a lot of games but still scored eight goals. I don’t understand how that became a bad season,” he remarked.

Now at Bremen, the 24-year-old is gradually adapting to his new environment. Though goals have been hard to come by, he has contributed assists and remains optimistic. “I came from humble beginnings. I’ve faced tough injuries that could have ended my career, so every day I’m thankful to God. Being here is already a blessing,” he said.

Boniface also addressed media attention on his online posts, which have often been described as confusing or controversial. He dismissed the criticism, saying his posts are harmless and meant for fun. “I just post funny things. If people make it into a big issue, that’s their choice. My posts don’t hurt anyone,” he explained.

He noted that whether he posts or not, people always find reasons to talk. “When I stopped posting, they said I must be going through something. When I post, they still complain,” he said with a laugh.

Boniface added that life at Werder Bremen has been positive, especially with the presence of fellow Nigerians Felix Agu and Justin Njinmah. “We have a good connection here. It feels like home,” he said.

The forward concluded by reaffirming his commitment to Bremen. “I had offers from other countries, even from England, but I chose to stay in Germany. I love it here and I want to make the fans proud.”
