What NBA history did Kevin Durant make during Phoenix Suns clash with Pistons

Kevin Durant scored 18 points, grabbed five rebounds, made three assists, had one steal, and blocked three shots in his first 27 minutes on the court on Saturday, as the Phoenix Suns played against the Detroit Pistons in Michigan.. He also shot 6 out of 17 from the field.

Durant, the 2014 MVP, also made history by moving into 9th place for most free throws made in NBA history. The NBA congratulated him, saying: “Congrats to @KDTrey5 of the @Suns for moving into 9th all-time in FREE THROWS MADE!”

Durant came into the game averaging 27.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game, shooting 52.3% from the field and 37.9% from three-point range over 30 games.

After a slow start, Durant found his rhythm in the second half. PHNX Sports’ Gerald Bourguet shared: “You knew the KD bounce-back was coming. He’s got 15 points on 6-9 shooting in the 3rd quarter alone, plus 2 more blocks to give him 4 for the game.”

The Suns are one of the most talented teams in the league but have a 20-20 record after their first 40 games, placing them 10th in the Western Conference. They have a 7-12 record on the road this season.

The Suns are currently in a close game against the Pistons midway through the 3rd quarter. Following this match, the Suns will play the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night, where they’ll face Donovan Mitchell.

Durant has also played for the OKC Thunder, Brooklyn Nets, and Golden State Warriors during his 17-season career in the NBA.
