Why is NFF not happy with FIFA?
Norwegian Football Federation release statement ahead of FIFA vote
The Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) has announced that it will vote against FIFA’s decision to give the 2030 and 2034 World Cups to Morocco, Spain, Portugal, and Saudi Arabia.
The NFF is concerned about FIFA’s process for awarding the hosting rights, saying it does not follow the principles of a fair and predictable system.
The federation plans to send a formal letter to FIFA to criticize the bidding process and ask for their concerns to be recorded in the Congress minutes.
NFF President Lise Klaveness said, “Tomorrow’s vote is not about who gets the 2030 and 2034 World Cups – that has already been decided. The vote is about giving feedback on FIFA’s process. We believe the process doesn’t meet the standards of good governance. By abstaining from the vote, we want to send a clear signal that we cannot support FIFA’s approach.”
Norway is unhappy with the lack of transparency and fairness in the process and feels it doesn’t fully consider the interests of all member associations.
