Arsenal sign Willian Borges until 2023 in a deal worth £220k a week

Willian Borges has joined Arsenal on a three deal worth £220 a week.

The Brazilian joined Arsenal after his contract with Chelsea expired. Willian and Chelsea could not find a common ground with Willian asking for three year contract and Chelsea only willing to hand him two years.

Hence, the reason he joined Arsenal who are going to pay him £220,000 a week according to Sportsmail.

The outlet revealed that Willian’s basic weekly salary will be lower than at Chelsea, but once a huge signing-on fee is factored in — along with loyalty payments and other bonuses throughout the three-year contract’s duration — the staggering mark will be hit.

Upon announcement of his capture, Mikel Arteta revealed the importance of the deal.

“I believe he’s a player that can really make a difference for us,” Mikel Arteta said.

“We have been monitoring him for the past few months, we had a clear intention to strengthen in the attacking midfielder and the winger positions [and] he is a player that gives us a lot of versatility, he can play in three or four different positions.

“He has the experience of everything in the football world but to still have the ambition to come here and contribute to bring the club where it belongs. I have been really impressed with all the talks I have had with him and how much he wanted to come.”

Willian will wear the number 12 shirt.
