Arteta sends message to Arsenal board after 2-1 win against Liverpool

Mikel Arteta has sent a message to club’s board after leading his side to a 2-1 win against Premier League champions, Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.

The Gunners came from a goal down to beat the 2019/20 Premier League champions who were seeking to end the season with the highest points in Premier League history.

Saido Mane put Liverpool in front but Alexandre Lacazette drew his side level and Reiss Nelson scored another before the end of first half to put his side in front.

The goals were enough to secure Arsenal’s first win against Liverpool since April 2015 and Mikel Arteta was full of praise for his players while asking the board to back him.

‘We will keep going. It is a massive job. The gap is enormous [between Arsenal and Liverpool]. But the gap betwen the comittment and the fight is equal and I am very proud of that. With that we can create something.’

Asked if has been given a guarantee of funds he said: ‘I don’t know. (It is) a big concern. You know, you just have to see how they build these squads.

‘There is no magic, you need to improve with quality, quality players in the squad. And you need bigger squads to compete in this competition and this is the challenge.’

9th placed Arsenal most either win the FA Cup, win their next two games and hope result in the games favour them before they can play European football next season.
