Deschamps Signs New France Contract

France coach Didier Deschamps has signed a new four-year contract to extend his tenure in charge of the Les Bleus.

Deschamps future has been up for discussions prior to the World Cup in Qatar before he led France to another final which they lost to Argentina.

Zidane had been linked to replace him, but the 2018 World Cup winner will continue until 2026.

“I am going to announce something which for me is an immense pleasure, and that is that the president has decided to extend (my contract) until 2026,” Deschamps said at the FFF general assembly.

“I thank the president for his constant support and his continued confidence in me,” he added. “It is essential for the France team to function well.”

Deschamps won the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and the Uefa Nations League in 2021.

France will return to action in March when they face Netherlands in Euro 2024 qualifiers.
