Edidiong Ezekiel Urges Enyimba Fans to Be Patient Ahead of NPFL Second Stanza
Enyimba forward Edidiong Ezekiel has appealed to the club’s supporters to remain patient as the team prepares for the second half of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
The former Nigeria U23 star was on the scoresheet as Enyimba ended the first stanza of the campaign with an impressive 3–0 victory over Shooting Stars in a Matchday 19 encounter played in Aba on 28 December. The result delighted the fans of the two-time African champions and lifted the People’s Elephant to eighth position on the league table with 24 points from 19 matches.
Despite the convincing win, Enyimba’s current league position is below the club’s usual high standards. Ezekiel admitted that the team’s slow start to the season was not unexpected, following the departure of several players at the end of last campaign.
“In my opinion, if you noticed, Enyimba this season is almost an entirely new team,” Ezekiel said. “So, we need time to adapt to the philosophy of the coach and to have the understanding within ourselves. Football is a game of patience; we need to have patience.”
The former Remo Stars striker explained that the exit of about 22 players last season had a major impact on the team’s performance and consistency.
“We urge the fans to have patience. Gradually, we will be good to go,” he added. “You’ve seen in the previous games – the last three or four games – we are improving every day.”
Looking ahead to the second stanza of the season, the former Akwa United forward said his main goal is to make the fans happy and help Enyimba return to the top.
“Personally, I want Enyimba fans to always be happy when they come to watch us,” Ezekiel said. “My aim here is not just to play for Enyimba, but to help take the club to where it belongs – the top.”
