Euro 2016 Day 5: Iceland freezes Ronaldo
By Tobi Nifesi
Today’s run of games was about Group F with Hungary vying off against Austria and Portugal putting up a fight against Iceland. The first of the two games, and probably the more entertaining, involved a good performance by the Hungarian who didn’t the most game betters and predictors have the final say. The Hungarians did well to hold off a good Austria side as Bayern Munich’s Alaba and the Unsere Burschen kept knocking to break down their defence.
The following game saw Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal start their campaign in a stalemate against Iceland. Portugal showed some promise early on in the game with Nani doing a good job to finish off a nice team effort in the 31st. However, things went a tad sore for the Portuguese after that with Iceland stepping up their efforts. The underdogs eventually scored a decent equalizer and stood tall to freeze Ronaldo and his fellow countrymen for the remainder of the game.
