Falconets land in Nigeria, get cash gift from Sport Minister as NFF promises to pay their bonuses
Nigeria U20 Women’s national team, Falconets have finally arrived in the country.
Falconets were the talk of the nation on Wednesday after their pictures at the Instanbul Airport the Internet.
The girls were pictured sleeping in cold floor and chairs at the Instanbul Airport in Turkey after a 24-hour delay in their flight.
NFF blamed FIFA for the ugly incident and some Nigerians blamed the NFF for not being proactive.
The incident is now in the Falconets and their officials arrived Wednesday evening.
They were received by NFF Secretary General, Mohammed Sanusi and Toyin Ibitoye who represented the Minister of Youth and Sports.
Mohammed Sanusi apologized to the entire team and to the team and assured them they will be paid their bonuses.
“It’s an approval from the ministry of sports and we want to assure you that the Super Falcons will be paid their bonuses, you will also be paid.
“We want you to know that Nigerians appreciate all of you but we are saddened that you have to sleep over at the airport because for a reason that is beyond our control,” he said.
Mr. Toyin Ibitoye who represented the Sports Minister also presented a cash reward to the team.
