‘Give him the job now’ – Kanu Nwankwo settles search for permanent Super Eagles coach

Former Super Eagles skipper, Kanu Nwankwo has settled for a permanent coach for the Super Eagles job, urging the Nigeria Football Federation to make an appointment now.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been without a permanent coach since Finidi George was sacked in June following a poor run of results. Since then, Eguavoen has been serving as an interim coach. He has also had to take charge of the home-based team.

With Eguavoen as coach, Nigeria have not lost any game. They have won three and drawn just one.

However, despite his impressive run of games, the NFF have not give Eguavoen the job permanently as it seems that they are are only keen on appointing a foreign coach.

“If I were the NFF president, I’d have given him the job by now,” Eguavoen told Brila FM.

“What are they waiting for? Are we waiting for him to lose two matches before we say he should go? This is overdue; they have to act.

“They brought someone in, he’s doing well, winning matches—what else are you looking for When coaches are doing well, you keep them.

“If they’re still looking for the ‘right one,’ when is that going to come. We don’t have time, qualifications here and there.” Kanu said.
