Martins trains and scores for Shanghai more than two years after he last kicked a ball

Obafemi Martins is back in Shanghai Shenhua colours more than two years after he left the club and he returned with a goal.

It is not clear if the Nigeria International has signed with the Chinese club but he trained with the club back in May and scored a goal in a friendly game.

The friendly game was played between the Shanghai Shenhua players who were divided into two groups namely blue and white and Obafemi Martins was in the blue team.

When the game appeared to be heading for a defeat, Obafemi Martins whose last competitive action was as far back in April 2018 stepped up and converted a penalty to draw his side level.

There are no official statement as to if the former Inter Milan player has joined the Chinese club or for how long he has, but he trained and scored a goal in the team’s colour back in May.

Obafemi Martins scored a total of 32 goals in 59 appearances for Shanghai Shenhua during his first spell with the Chinese club.

He also led them to the Chinese FA Cup and a place in the Asian Champions League before his nasty injury ruled him out for a long time.
