National Youths Games: Team Akwa Ibom (Football) have team walk ahead of Yobe State clash on Monday
The Team Akwa Ibom State male football team for the ongoing National Youths Games, were out on the streets of Asaba for a team walk on Sunday morning, ahead of their first match vs Yobe State on Monday, September 25.
As supervised by the teams Head Coach, Daniel Japhet, Team Akwa Ibom male football players were seen chatting and strolling to ease up for the challenge ahead.
The walk from Unity College to Asaba mall, lasted for 30 minutes, before the Coach sponsored refreshments for the lads at the mall to further loosen up ahead of a tasking schedule from Monday morning.
Akwa Ibom State arrived at the National finals as champions of the south-south zone but will walk a tough road in their bid to get a medal at the games.
Of the 18-players presented for screening by Akwa Ibom State for the football event, only nine were cleared and will line-up against other full strength sides for one of three medals at the 7th National Youth Games.
Akwa Ibom State will face Yobe State in the male football event on Monday, September 25, at the Jay Jay Okocha Stadium, Ogwuashiukwu, Delta State by 10am.
The winner of this match will proceed to the Quater-final, while the loser will wait until the completion of first round matches, for a possible best loser spot.
Ten States will battle for three medal places in the make football event at the 2023 National Youths Games, ongoing in Asaba, Delta State.
